Lesson One

Today we are talking about taking responsibility, and looking at the mindset many of us have struggled with I just need more time.

This phrase, I just need more time makes the assumption that we could possibly create more time, or that time moves faster for us than it does for other people. However, we all know that 24 hours comes and goes – with little care about how much we need to accomplish in it.

Quite a few years ago during a tough season of my life I was going through a pretty intense process of self-development and personal growth.

I always wished for more time. I thought that if I just had more time, I could get everything done that I needed to. One of the biggest realizations I had was that I had been living with a victim mentality, especially as it related to my time. I was associating a lot of blame onto others for how busy my life was, and why I wasn’t getting everything done.

I made a shift, both in my mind and my vocabulary and started owning my life.

Today’s mindset shift, rather than saying: I just need more time, we want to change it to I will learn to manage myself. I am responsible for me.

No one else is going to make choices for my best interest, all the external situations I was looking to – they weren’t going to change my relationship with time. Only I could do that – it was my responsibility.

So I began a journey – creating routines, being intentional with my schedule, setting boundaries. Saying no. And I want to encourage you to begin your own journey.

Most of us think that having more time will be created by the external circumstances in our life. However, that’s not usually the case. So when we are able to embrace this mindset shift of I will learn to manage myself amazing things happen.

Taking personal responsibility for our own time will allow us to make huge strides. And it will cause a major shift in our relationship with time. For most of us, that means learning how to plan, how to create routines that will support us in developing new habits, setting boundaries and hardest of all, learning to say no.

Here’s a question to think about: What is the biggest hurdle you need to overcome so you can manage yourself? What is it about managing yourself and your time, that you need to adjust or change?

Let’s make this mindset shift today: From I just need more time to... I will learn to manage myself.

A note from Kathryn…

I hope you are enjoying this free video course. It comes from such a deep place of conviction in my life and has made a huge impact on hundreds of students over the last 6 years.

The question becomes… where do you go from here? How do you take these simple truths about life, time, schedule and priorities and begin to implement them?

Sometimes we need support to know how to take the next steps.

Sometimes we need accountability to make the progress we want to see.

Sometimes we need regular reminders to let go of the guilt.

Sometimes we need permission to focus, and not try to do all the things.

If that resonates with you, my group program where we can celebrate our progress towards the future we want to experience rather than chase perfection, might be a great fit for you.

I want to teach you how the power of planning can make a huge difference in your life.
